Andrej Babiš's government appoints its First Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Government Office and a new spokesperson at its constituent meeting
On Monday, 15 December 2025, Andrej Babiš's government held its constituent meeting at the Straka Academy. It appointed the First Vice-President, a new Head of the Government Office and the Government Spokesperson and decided, among other things, that the regular cabinet meetings would be held on Mondays.

Czech Slovak government meeting reaffirmed the strengthening of the partnership between the two countries
The ninth joint meeting of the governments of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic took place at Nová Horka Castle in Studénka on Tuesday 31 March 2026. The cabinets, led by Prime Ministers Andrej Babiš and Robert Fico, discussed, among other things, the current situation regarding fuel prices and oil supplies following the outbreak of conflict in the Middle East. The Prime Ministers of the two countries also signed a Memorandum of Enhanced Cooperation between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic, which strengthens the mutual partnership in key areas.

Prime Minister Babiš following the European Council meeting: We have succeeded in pushing through a revision of the emission allowance system
On Thursday, 19 March 2026, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš attended a meeting of the European Council in Brussels. EU leaders discussed in particular the strengthening of European competitiveness and high energy prices. The Prime Minister emphasised that the Czech Republic succeeded in pushing the need for a change to the ETS 1 emission allowance system into the summit conclusions—the European Commission will submit a proposal for a revision of the system by June. The situation in the Middle East was also an important topic. Before the start of the summit, the Prime Minister also took part in a meeting of leaders of like-minded countries on the topic of migration.

Prime Minister Babiš discussed European competitiveness and joint projects in energy and transport with German Chancellor Merz
On 10 March 2026, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, met with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, in Berlin. Among the main topics of the talks were the strengthening of the competitiveness of European industry, the completion of road and rail links between our countries, the strengthening of energy connections, and the current development of the situation in the Middle East. The leaders agreed on the creation of a Czech-German working group on energy "highways". In Berlin, Prime Minister Babiš also met with representatives of the Federation of German Industries and the Ost-Ausschuss association.

Prime Minister Babiš meets President Macron to discuss competitiveness and nuclear energy cooperation
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Wednesday, 11 February 2026. Talks at the Élysée Palace focused on bolstering European competitiveness—a key agenda item ahead of Thursday’s informal European Council summit in Belgium The leaders also addressed cooperation in nuclear energy, investment support, and partnerships in transport and defence. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister visited the Gustave Roussy Institute, a leading oncology centre.

Prime Minister Babiš following European Council summit on competitiveness: The solution lies in reforming the emissions trading scheme
On Thursday, 12 February 2026, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, attended the informal European Council meeting at Alden Biesen Castle in Belgium. The discussions centred on soaring energy prices, the EU’s stagnating competitiveness, and the removal of internal market barriers. The leaders debated how to jump-start the European Union's economic growth, following presentations by Mario Draghi and Enrico Letta, who authored comprehensive reports for the European Commission in 2024 on competitiveness and the single market.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš holds key talks on EU priorities in Austria and Slovakia
The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, has visited Austria for high-level talks in Vienna with Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker. The agenda focused on EU competitiveness, energy security, and a unified approach to tackling illegal migration. The Prime Minister’s programme also included a visit to the Czech Comenius School Association and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Following the Vienna engagements, the Czech Prime Minister travelled to Bratislava to attend a Slavkov format summit. Prime Minister Babiš held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome
On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš held talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Rome. The main topics of the meeting included boosting Europe’s competitiveness, migration, defence and energy cooperation, and economic ties. The leaders agreed to draft a Cooperation Action Plan between the Czech Republic and Italy for the years 2026–2030. The Prime Minister also invited the Italian Prime Minister to the Czech Republic. The Czech Prime Minister then met with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini.
