European security and healthcare were among the main topics discussed during the Prime Minister’s meeting with the President of Finland
On Tuesday 5 May 2026, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met with Alexander Stubb, President of the Republic of Finland, at the Straka Academy. The main topics of discussion were the current geopolitical situation, cooperation in the defence industry and the security situation in Europe. They also discussed cooperation in the field of healthcare.
The main topic of the meeting was the current geopolitical situation and the challenges it presents. During the meeting, the two politicians therefore discussed the need for and importance of cooperation within NATO. The leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities and reducing strategic dependencies.
“I was delighted to welcome the Finnish President, Alexander Stubb, to the Straka Academy today; I had already met him briefly in Davos in January.” The president and I spoke about the current security situation in Europe, the war in Ukraine, and also the situation in the Middle East. We also discussed healthcare, as Finland is a leader in the field of prevention and also has extensive experience in building new hospitals. Thank you very much for the pleasant meeting and the very substantive discussion,” the Prime Minister added after the meeting.
Prime Minister Babiš and Health Minister Adam Vojtěch welcomed Finland’s interest in cooperation in the healthcare sector, as evidenced by the participation of Finnish healthcare companies in the business forum in Prague.
