On Tuesday 21 April 2026, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš, visited Siemens Healthineers in Forchheim, Germany, home to one of the company’s key development and manufacturing centres specialising in modern healthcare technologies. During his visit, he held talks with the company’s management and toured its premises.
The main topics of the visit were trends in healthcare, the digitalisation of processes, the use of artificial intelligence, and ways in which modern technology can help improve the quality of patient care and the sustainability of healthcare systems.
During the visit, the Prime Minister learned about the entire technological chain of development and production of semiconductor crystals, which form a key component of modern detectors used in advanced imaging systems. He also toured the computed tomography (CT) systems plant—one of the technological leaders in the field of precise and fast diagnostics.
Considerable focus was also dedicated to innovative Photon Counting technology, representing a major breakthrough in the development of computed tomography. The technology delivers significantly higher image quality, enhanced resolution, and more efficient radiation utilisation, offering direct benefits for both patient safety and comfort, and the precision of medical diagnostics. Siemens Healthineers officials also presented to the Prime Minister the Digital Twin system, which enables digital modelling of production processes and supports more efficient management, operational optimisation, and the sustainable development of healthcare technologies.
"These unique devices can detect objects that are three times smaller than what the human eye can see." They are crucial for the future of our healthcare, as they will help us pursue our strategy: we have the best doctors in the world, and we want to have the best hospitals and equipment," the Prime Minister said after the visit.
The Czech Prime Minister also pointed out that Germany has long been the Czech Republic’s largest and most strategically important trading partner, accounting for almost 30 per cent of the country’s total foreign trade turnover. Cooperation between the two countries is also developing significantly in the healthcare sector, particularly in the areas of imaging technologies, hospital modernisation and the digitalisation of healthcare.
Siemens is one of the Czech Republic’s leading technology and industrial partners. It employs around 7,000 people in the Czech Republic, of whom roughly 950 work in research and development. The company operates three production plants, two shared services centres and nine development centres here. Specifically, Siemens Healthineers is one of the world’s leading providers of healthcare technology and has long been developing solutions that combine cutting-edge research, highly specialised manufacturing and the practical needs of healthcare facilities.
