Prime Minister Sobotka today signed a Memorandum with Foxconn – nothing now stands in the way of a billion-crown investment
Shortly after noon today, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Taiwanese company Foxconn, which is planning to invest CZK 2.5 billion in expansion here in the next three years. Another CZK 3.7 billion will be channelled into human resources, thus creating 2,000 new jobs.

Government approves the Czech Republic’s Foreign Policy Concept
On 13 July 2015, the Government approved the Czech Republic’s new Foreign Policy Concept. This strategy document, which is based on the Government’s Policy Statement of February 2014, reflects the transformation of the global world in recent years and also incorporates the priorities of the Government of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. The Czech Republic’s Foreign Policy Concept defines three global objectives: security, prosperity and sustainable development, and human dignity, including human rights. It also has two national objectives: a service to the public and the reputation of the Czech Republic.

On Thursday 9 July 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Mr Chung Ui-hwa, in the Chamber of Deputies.

The Prime Minister holds talks with the prime minister of Montenegro on the development of trade relations
On Thursday 2 July 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met Prime Minister Milo Đukanović of Montenegro at the Straka Academy. Their talks centred on mutual cooperation and the development of trade relations. The prime ministers also discussed energy, tourism, Montenegro’s EU accession process and its aspirations regarding NATO membership.

Prime Minister Sobotka in talks with the European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström
The Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met on Friday 5 June 2015 with the European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström. The working lunch with the Commissioner was also attended by the Minister for Industry and Trade Mr Jan Mládek and the State Secretary for European Affairs Mr Tomáš Prouza.

Czech Prime Minister Sobotka presented Jürgen Prochnow with the award for lifetime achievement at Zlín Film Festival
The Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended the gala evening on the occasion of the closing of the Zlín Film Festival on Wednesday 3 June 2015 and presented the award for lifetime achievement to a notable German actor Jürgen Prochnow, for his achievements on European stage an in Hollywood. The gala evening was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for the Science, Research and Innovation Mr Pavel Bělobrádek.

Prime Minister Sobotka in talks German Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen
The Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and his Minister for Defence Martin Stropnický met on Thursday 4 June 2015 at the Straka Academy with the German Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen. They have extensively discussed the Czech-German strategic dialogue and cooperation between their respective Defence Ministries as well as variety of international relations topics.

Prime Minister in talks with his Armenian counterpart on economic cooperation
The Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met on Tuesday 2 June 2015 with the Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. The two Prime Ministers and the Czech Minister for Industry and Trade Mr Jan Mládek discussed development of economic and investment cooperation between our two countries as well as relations in areas of education, culture and tourism.

Czech Prime Minister Sobotka supports gender equality struggle
The Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka joined on Tuesday 2 June 2015 the campaign lead by UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson at a special event for the HeForShe campaign. The objective of this campaign is to support men’s role in combating inequality between genders, violence against women and stopping any forms of discrimination. The Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka supported the aims of this campaign along the with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr Lubomír Zaorálek at a photo opportunity.
