Letter to the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission on the candidacy for the EBA's location to the Czech Republic
Before the European Council meeting, a letter from Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka was presented to the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, in which the Czech government advises of the candidacy of the Czech Republic for the relocation of the European Banking Authority (EBA) to Prague.
The candidacy was approved by the government in February this year. For the Czech Republic, the relocation of the authority would be significant not only symbolically but also economically. The authority has 200 highly qualified positions and a large number of services are tied to it. The decision to place the agency will be the result of diplomatic talks in the coming months. In this respect the government will be very active.
