Prime Minister Sobotka met with the Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony, Tillich
On Wednesday, 1 October 2014, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Minister-President of the Free State of Saxony, Stanislaw Tilich. Together they discussed the extension of police cooperation, drug policy and the development of the road transport infrastructure.
The main topics for the meeting included the intensification of cooperation in the field of the transport infrastructure, particularly rails links between Prague and Dresden, which are a high priority for the Czech Republic because they connect it onto the western European high-speed train network and also link central Europe to the northern German ports. On the Czech side, plans are being prepared for the Prague – Lovosice section and the construction of a new high-speed line is expected to take place during the 2023-2025 period.
Another topic of discussion was cooperation in the field of security and the fight against organised crime, particularly in the area of drug trafficking.
This is the third meeting between Minister-President Stanislaw Tillich and Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka.
The Minister-President of Saxony, Stanislaw Tillich, travelled to Prague for a ceremony organised by the embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Prague as co-organiser of the celebrations for the Day of Germany Unity and the 25th anniversary of the departure of refugees from the German Democratic Republic through the West German embassy to West Germany. The Saxon Minister-President is meeting President Miloš Zeman at this event.
