The 2015 National Reform Programme Sets out a Plan of Key Measures to Support Economic Growth and Job Creation
The Cabinet has approved the National Reform Programme of the Czech Republic for the year 2015 at a meeting of the Committee for the European Union held today. The document defines the concept of the national economic policy and sets out key measures for stimulating economic growth and employment in the Czech Republic. Measures proposed in the reform programme have been formulated with a view to conforming to the principle of responsible fiscal management.

The Czech Republic to send a team of medical specialists to the earthquake-stricken Nepal
The Cabinet decided today to dispatch relief to Nepal, following a devastating earthquake that has claimed thousands of lives in the last several days. The Czech Republic will send a team of medical trauma specialists who will remain in the affected area for at least 14 days.

Prime Minister Sobotka in intergovernmental consultations: Czech-Polish relations are strategically important
On Monday 20 April 2015, the Czech Government Office hosted the third round of intergovernmental consultations between the Czech Republic and Poland. Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, his Polish counterpart Ewa Kopacz, the two countries’ defence, interior, transport and environment ministers, and their deputy industry and agriculture ministers discussed common themes. These consultations have resulted in a joint declaration by the prime ministers, an agreement between the environment ministries, and a memorandum between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland.

Premier Meets with Vice President of the European Commission to Discuss Energy and V4 Priorities
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek, Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek, and State Secretary for European Affairs Tomáš Prouza, met with Vice President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič in the Kramář Villa on Thursday 2 April 2015 to discuss cooperation between the Czech Republic and the European Commission in the area of energy, particularly in the context of the Energy Union. Other issues they debated included regional cooperation and the preparation and priorities of the Czech presidency of the Visegrad Group.

EC may approve the first 4 operational programmes in late April or early May
On Tuesday, 31 March 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, together with Deputy Prime Minister Pavel Bělobrádek and State Secretary for European Affairs Tomáš Prouza, met with Corina Crețu, a member of the European Commission responsible for regional policy. Their main topics of discussion were the Czech Republic's preparation to draw EU funds in the current programme period and to finish drawing the remaining funds from the previous period.

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka meets with U.S. soldiers in Prague
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met late this morning in Prague with U.S. soldiers during the transit of the U.S. Army convoy through the Czech Republic. Accompanied by Defence Minister Martin Stropnický and General Staff Chief General Petr Pavel, the prime minister visited the Ruzyňe barracks, where the U.S. troops are spending the night.

Ministers' participation in the Council of the EU increases year-to-year
Today as part of their European agenda, the cabinet addressed ministers' participation in meetings of the Council of the EU during the governing coalition's term so far. The cabinet managed after nearly five years to reverse the trend and increase the representation of Czech ministers in Brussels at regular meetings. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka also appealed to individual ministers to attempt to increase their participation in joint meetings with European partners in subsequent periods.

Prime Minister Sobotka: A direct air link between the Czech Republic and China could begin in October
Today Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with Ma Keqing, the People's Republic of China's ambassador. The main topic of their discussion was further deepening of bilateral cooperation and the strategic partnership between the Czech Republic and the People's Republic of China.
