Eva Decroix
Minister for Justice
Eva Decroix was born in Ostrava. She moved with her parents to Jihlava, where she graduated from the Ad Fontes private grammar school. She then began studying teacher training for secondary schools, Czech language and French language at the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague. Between 2002 and 2003, she studied for two years at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management at the Université de Bretagne Sud and obtained a DEUG diploma (Diplôme d'Études Universitaires Générales). After interrupting her studies, she transferred to Université Lille II in the academic year 2005/2006, which she completed with a Master 1 diploma.
From 2008, she began her legal traineeship in the law office of JUDr. Tomáš Ptáček in Prague. After successfully passing the bar examination, she established her own law firm in Jihlava in 2011.
In 2015, she passed the special state language examination for the field of translation from French and completed a course for court interpreters. A year later, she was registered in the list of mediators.
In the academic year 2018/2019, she completed MBA studies at the French-Czech Institute of Management (IFTG) at the Prague University of Economics and Business and obtained a Master 2 diploma from the partner Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and an MBA degree.
Between 2020 and 2024, she completed her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law of Charles University in the study programme Theoretical Legal Sciences – Civil Law. In June 2024, she obtained a Ph.D. degree.
In January 2014, she joined ODS (Civic Democratic Party) Jihlava and became a member of its regional council in November 2015. Two years later, she became a member of the local council of ODS Jihlava. In autumn 2019, she unsuccessfully stood as a candidate in elections to the European Parliament. A year later, she became a member of the Executive Council of ODS, and in March 2020 she was elected as a non-released councillor of the Statutory City of Jihlava. Since October 2021, she has been a Member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In April 2024, she became the Deputy Chairwoman of ODS.
Eva Decroix is married and has two children.
