June 16, 2008:Czech Republic To Hand Over its Presidency to Poland at V4 Summit in Prague, Press conference at 11.05

A summit meeting of the heads of government of the Visegrad Group countries will be held in Prague on Monday, June 16, 2008. At the meeting, the Czech Republic will end its presidency and hand it over to Poland, which will hold it in the next year.
The key topics under discussion will be primarily issues relating to developments in the Western Balkans and energy security in the context of the proposed EU legislation. The Premiers will also review the course of the Czech presidency of the V4 Group and implementation of its priorities, including presentation of the activities of the International Visegrad Fund. Poland, as the forthcoming presiding country, will present its programme and priorities. For his part, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek will brief participants on preparations for the Czech Republic’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2009.
Part of the working programme will be also attended by French President Nicolas Sarkozy who will continue bilateral talks with Premier Mirek Topolánek after the summit.
