The government commenced discussions on the Fiscal Compact
The government was addressing the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union, then suspended discussions, and will resume them in a month. The Czech Republic could thus join the Fiscal Compact by the beginning of the second half of this year. The government’s proposal will also be discussed in Parliamentary committees and the tripartite.
Another point on the government’s agenda from the area of European politics was the aim to eliminate the Czech exception from the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. The government tasked Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek with implementing appropriate measures within the scope of the European Union that would lead to the exception from the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU to no longer be exercised.
