Prime Minister Sobotka Met with Minister-President Seehofer in Bavaria and Visited the Venue where the Munich Agreement Was Signed
The outcome of today's discussions includes a declaration of the two leaders on the development of relations between Bavaria and the Czech Republic.
Sobotka a Seehofer visited the Ludwig-Maxmilian University to commemorate the legacy of the White Rose resistance group whose members sacrificed their lives in fight against Nazism.
The two politicians also visited the University of Music and Performing Arts where the Munich Agreement was signed on 30 September 1938. A plate commemorating this tragic historical occasion has been installed on the wall of the university building and unveiled on 24 February 2016.
Prime Minister Sobotka completed the first day of his official visit to Bavaria in the Czech Centre, where he was presented with the concept of the Czech-Bavarian Regional Exhibition. Minister-President Seehofer accepted the Czech Premier's invitation to attend the exhibition's opening ceremony in Prague on 14 May 2016. The event will be dedicated to the life of Charles IV who made a contribution to the history of both Bavaria and Czech Lands. The exhibition will be installed in Nurnberg from October 2016 to March 2017.
