Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met with the President of the National Council of Austria
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš met with the President of the National Council of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka. “We talked about elections to the European Parliament, Brexit, migration and the unique project of the joint Czech-Austrian history book”, said Andrej Babiš.
The talks also focused on European affairs. The Prime Minister discussed with Wolfgang Sobotka the future development of the EU following the elections to the European Parliament, the effects of Brexit or the question of the functioning of Schengen and the strengthening of Frontex in connection with migration. Wolfgang Sobotka also told Prime Minister Babiš the experience and benefits of the Austrian Presidency of the EU Council in the second half of last year.
They also talked about highway and rail connections between the Czech Republic and Austria. The Czech Prime Minister said that on 29 March the construction of the Hodějovice - Třebonín section on the route Prague - České Budějovice - Linz started on the Czech side. In addition, he emphasized the priority of the high-speed rail link Berlin - Prague - Vienna. “We also tackled the motorway in the direction towards Austria, we are 20 years late.
