Government approves donation of medical supplies, via Jordan they will go to the Gaza Strip
In an effort to improve the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the government of Petr Fiala approved a donation of medical supplies worth CZK 1.37 million, primarily intended for the Jordanian field hospitals there. The vote was held by correspondence on Thursday 18 September 2025, with the transport of medical supplies to be provided by the Czech Army.
"Within its means and capabilities, the Czech Army tries to help in emergency situations in various places around the world. I hope that the donated medical supplies will alleviate the difficult humanitarian situation of the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip," said Defence Minister Jana Černochová.
The list of donated materials includes protective equipment, dressing material, medical instruments and medicines. It is provided under an exemption from the condition of permanent needlessness (as per Section 21(2) of Act No. 219/200 Coll. on the property of the Czech Republic and its representation in legal relations). The Ministry of Defence has applied to the government for an exemption.
Jordan will use the material for the needs of its field hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which help the residents of the conflict-affected territory. Jordan currently operates two field hospitals and is preparing to open a third.
Jordanian field hospitals in the Gaza Strip have a wide range of standard and specialised wards, including neonatology and neurosurgery. Over 100,000 patients have been treated there since the beginning of the conflict. If it is impossible or impractical to use the material in the Gaza Strip, Jordan may also provide it to its armed forces. It cannot transfer it to anyone else without the prior written consent of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic.
The cost of restocking and transporting the donated material to Jordan will be covered by the Ministry of Defence budget; no increase will be needed.
