On Thursday, 25 June 2026, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš attended the international Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Poland, where he delivered a speech. He also met representatives of Czech companies participating in the conference, supporting their efforts to get involved in the reconstruction of the war-torn country. On the sidelines of the conference, the Czech Prime Minister also held talks with Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

At the opening of the conference, the Czech Prime Minister delivered a speech in which he emphasised that the reconstruction of Ukraine is an important goal that will require immense resources, determination, and international cooperation. The fundamental prerequisite for the country's recovery and a return to normal life is the end of hostilities and the conclusion of peace. "Peace is not passivity. Peace is not resignation. Peace is not a surrender of principles or justice. Peace is the determination to stop the killing, alleviate human suffering, and create conditions for a stable future. Europe once found the wisdom and courage to rise from the ruins of war and build a continent based on cooperation and reconciliation. Today, we need that same wisdom again. Because only peace can secure Ukraine's future," the Prime Minister said in his speech.

The Prime Minister met with representatives of Czech businesses at the conference. "The reconstruction of Ukraine brings enormous opportunities for our companies. At the conference, I met Czech entrepreneurs, and we agreed to hold a roundtable meeting in Prague to exchange information on their activities in Ukraine and discuss where we can assist. At the same time, we want to map out all possibilities for financing and supporting our businesses, not only through EGAP but also from EU funds. The Minister of Industry and Trade, Karel Havlíček, could lead a business mission to Ukraine in the autumn," the Prime Minister stated.

The conference was attended by Czech companies and other entities with prospects and experience in operating in Ukraine or elsewhere abroad, such as the Czech Health Technology Institute, Škoda JS, TES Vsetín, Tedom, and Mostárna Lískovec.

Czech exports to Ukraine have been growing rapidly over the past few years, reaching CZK 52 billion in 2025.
