Speech of the Prime Minister of the CR, M. Topolánek on the occasion of Launching into Operation the Czech Point Project on Wednesday 28th March 2007
As it is mentioned in a Czech song: Promises should be fulfilled on Christmas, at least. But for politicians it would not be enough. And I am really very pleased that in not quite ten weeks that followed after the vote of confidence of the government, I can present one of the important promises, which has been fulfilled.
A really significant matter will occur today. The first Czech Point will be opened. It is a place where citizens will be able to obtain necessary documents without necessity to sour the offices. That is why this step is so important. Because it liquidates that what nark people.
We promised not only necessary economic reforms before election. We also promised we would relieve people from unnecessary bureaucracy. And I thank the Minister of Interior and his team for presenting the first result in such a short time.It is a very exiguous start for the present. Not only because this Czech Point in Prague 13 district is the first one of more than thousand Czech points that are planned. First of all, it is a start of a way, at the end of which all the unnecessary paperwork should be removed. All matters should be removed that make people to leave their own homes because of visiting offices.
It is a radical change of philosophy. Instead of a citizen serves an office, they will be offices that will serve citizens. It is a trite cliché, but it is valid fully in practice. I would like to say that in the sphere of public administration, it is a revolution that could be compared with the invention of a PC.
And so, minister, present your exiguous start. I would say: it is a small step for Langer but a great step for Czech citizens. It is yours!
