Expression of thanks of the Czech Prime Minister on the occasion of the meeting with the Czech football representation under 20 years of age

Good afternoon. I would like to thank you a lot. I am really proud of you, and not only on behalf of all those fans, as I was one of those who switched on the TV set at 1,40 in the morning and switched it off at half past four after the penalty shootout with Spain. I wished you success in the final match a lot. I think that the Chairman said that Argentina was beyond us, but I must say that we needed a piece of good luck, to convert the chance in the first half and you could have returned as great heroes. But you are returning like heroes anyway. I think that nobody properly appreciates what you had managed, as the Czech football players do not often return from such top events with medals. I wish your age group 1987, 1988 to assert themselves also in the football of adults, to get good contracts based on this success, to have excellent carrier, to return from European championships and world championships of adults with medals in the following years, to absorb this success, to have such carrier as it is now in its beginning. I wish it on behalf of all football fans, on behalf of the Czech government and I wish you to meet soon your neighbours and girlfriends and to enjoy the success and the following days before the training and the new football life starts.
