Jan Kohout born 29th March 1961 in Plzeň.
Education
1984: Graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Prague.
Professional and Public Activities
1985 to 1990: Member of the research staff at the Institute for International Relations in Prague. From 1990: various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
1995 to 2000: Deputy Head of Czech Republic permanent mission to the UNO, OSCE and other international organisations based in Vienna.
2000 to 2001: European correspondent, Deputy Director for European Union and western Europe section.
2002 to 2009: Deputy Minister, permanent representative of the Czech Republic to the European Union.
2009 to 2010: Minister for Foreign Affairs in government of Jan Fischer.
10th July 2013: Appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
