Marian Jurečka
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs

Marian Jurečka was born in Přerov, where he graduated from the Secondary School of Agriculture. He continued in this field during his university studies at Mendel University in Brno, where he graduated with a degree in Plant Pathology (specialising in plant protection).
During his university studies he began to do business at the family farm in Rokytnice. He later became the head of the agricultural chemical distribution centre of Lukrom spol. s r.o., where he worked for five years. In 2007 he was appointed Adviser to the Minister and Chairman of the Government Legislative Council for Agriculture and the Environment, Adviser to the Minister for Regional Development, and became a member of the Tourism Development Committee. He has been a member of the Charita Olomouc Council since 2017.
In 1999 he joined KDU-ČSL. In December 2011 he was elected First Deputy Leader of KDU‑ČSL. In October 2012 he was first elected a representative of the Olomouc Region. He successfully defended his mandate as member of the regional assembly in the regional elections in 2016 and then again in 2020. In 2013 he ran for the post of KDU-ČSL leader in the Olomouc Region in the Chamber of Deputies and was elected. He briefly served as Chairman of the KDU-ČSL Parliamentary Club. In January 2014 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture in Bohuslav Sobotka’s government. In January 2020 he became the leader of KDU-ČSL. In the 2021 elections to the Chamber of Deputies he defended his parliamentary mandate as the leader of the SPOLU candidacy in the Olomouc Region.
Marian Jurečka is married and has five sons. He plays the tuba and the pan flute, holds benefit concerts and is a lifelong scout.
