Prime Minister opens business forum, visits demilitarised zone and holds talks with National Assembly speaker

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and the government delegation have entered the second day of their official trip to the Republic of Korea. Today, the prime minister focused on investment and business support. In the morning, he opened a business forum and attended an investment seminar. The prime minister also visited the Korean Demilitarised Zone and met Ui-hwa Chung, the speaker of the National Assembly.

European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen visits Prague

European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen met the State Secretary for European Affairs, Tomáš Prouza, economic and social partners, and representatives of the banking sector during his visit to Prague. The main item on the agenda was the Investment Plan for Europe, which is expected to deliver up to EUR 315 billion to the European economy.

The Czech Republic dispatches a convoy with humanitarian aid for Ukraine

Today, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Minister for Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek, President of the Czech Red Cross Marek Jukl, Director-General of the Fire Rescue Service Drahoslav Ryba, Chairman of the State Material Reserves Authority Pavel Švagr, and a representative of the People in Need organisation symbolically launched the journey of a Czech humanitarian convoy for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka holds talks at an informal meeting of the European Council

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka headed the Czech delegation at the informal meeting of heads of state and government of EU Member States held on Thursday 12 February 2015 in Brussels. EU leaders discussed the recently concluded agreement on the ceasefire in Ukraine, adopted a joint declaration on the struggle against terrorism and debated the future of the economic and currency union.

The Prime Ministers of Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia meet in Slavkov (Austerlitz) to establish a new format of regional cooperation.

Premier Bohuslav Sobotka met with Federal Chancellor of Austria Werner Faymann and Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico in Slavkov on 29 January 2015 to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation in such areas as good neighborliness, employment and economic growth, and other national and pan-European policies.

Czech government delegation honoured the memory of Holocaust victims in Auschwitz

On 27th January 2015, the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka lit a candle at the Auschwitz concentration camp memorial to honour the memory of Holocaust victims. The Minister of Defence Martin Stropnický, the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Michaela Marksová and the Minister of Culture Daniel Herman accompanied the Prime Minister to the memorial service.

Visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Turkey Cemil Çiçek to the Prime Minister Sobotka

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka met Cemil Çiçek, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, at the Straka Academy on Monday 26th January 2015. At the meeting, they observed the Memorial Day for the Victims of the Holocaust and discussed the issues of the common fight against antisemitism, racism and intolerance. These issues were also the focus of the international conference Let My People Live!, held in Prague and attended by both of the statesmen.
