Prime Minister Sobotka urges European partners to ramp up cooperation in the protection of external borders and the preservation of Schengen

The Czech Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka, has written a letter to the heads of state and government of EU Member States and to the presidents of the European Council and European Commission seeking greater cooperation, especially in the more effective and stronger protection of the European Union’s borders. In his letter, sent to EU leaders yesterday, Prime Minister Sobotka singled out the preservation and further reinforcement of Schengen cooperation as a primary objective.

V4 countries single out Energy Union building as a priority

At today's meeting of the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group Countries, the prime ministers of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia labelled the building of the Energy Union as a priority not only for the Visegrad region, but for the EU as a whole. They also stressed that the European Union should grapple with the impacts of individual projects on countries in its immediate vicinity. With this in mind, today the V4 prime ministers also signed a letter addressed to the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, to which Romania also decided to subscribe.

Prague hosts first-ever meeting of V4 prime ministers and the president of the Republic of Korea

On Thursday 3 December 2015, the Visegrad Group countries’ prime ministers came together at Czernin Palace, Prague, for the first-ever meeting of the Prime ministers of the V4 countries with the President of the Republic of Korea. The South Korean president, Park Geun-hye, met the Czech Republic’s Bohuslav Sobotka, Slovakia’s Robert Fico, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán and Poland’s Beata Szydło to discuss the deepening of mutual relations between countries.

Prime ministers of V4 countries adopt joint statement on key topics of the December European Council

At today's V4-Korea Summit, the prime ministers of the Visegrad Group countries discussed the current situation in migration, the fight against terrorism, the significance of Schengen and other themes of the upcoming European Council. At the end of their talks, they adopted a joint statement.

Prime Minister Sobotka and South Korean President Park Geun-hye adopt action plan for Czech-Korean strategic partnership

Today, Thursday 3 December 2015, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and the President of the Republic of Korea, Park Geun-hye, discussed how to step up the mutual cooperation between their two countries. Their talks at Prague’s Liechtenstein Palace focused on economic cooperation, investments by Korean companies in the Czech Republic, and security issues.

A summit of the Prime Ministers of V4 countries will be held in Prague on 3 December 2015

A summit of the Prime Ministers of member countries of the Visegrad Group, which is currently presided by the Czech Republic, will be held in Prague on Thursday 3 December 2015. The top-level meeting of the leaders of the Central European region will be attended by President of Korea, Park Geun-hye.

Countries of the Visegrad Group will increase their contribution to Africa and strengthen capacities of Frontex and EASO

The states of the Visegrad Group agreed to strengthen their solidarity activities to address the migration crisis at the Valletta summit. The Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary promised in the common declaration to increase their joint financial contribution to the Trust Fund for Africa by EUR 400 thousand. Each of the countries will send another 75 experts to Frontex and EASO. The Visegrad Group thus proved its commitment to extend solidarity activities again.
