Prime Minister Sobotka: the EU summit with Turkey brought us closer to solving the migration crisis
On Monday the 7th of March 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with EU leaders and the Turkish Prime Minister at the extraordinary summit in Brussels to discuss the development of the migration crisis and stop illegal migration. The result is a joint plan for EU and Turkey, which will lead to reducing the flow of migrants to Europe, and an agreement on the closure of the western Balkan route for illegal migration.

Prime Minister Sobotka asked the President of the European Commission Juncker for a better exchange of information related to migration
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka addressed the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker, in a letter inviting him to propose measures to improve the exchange of information on migration with non-EU countries in the Balkans. The aim of the initiative of Prime Minister Sobotka is for the western Balkan states to adequately use data, including relevant EU databases relating to the identification of asylum seekers and persons who were apprehended when illegally crossing the borders of the Union.

On Wednesday the 2nd of March 2016 in the Straka Academy, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, who came to Prague at the invitation of the Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek. Together they discussed the current situation in the EU and preparations for the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of the birth of Charles IV.

On Wednesday 24 February 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka hosted Stanislaw Tillich at Straka Academy. The Minister-President of Saxony had come to Prague at the invitation of the President of the Czech Parliament’s Senate, Milan Štěch. They discussed the development of cross-border transport infrastructure, Czech-German scientific and investment cooperation, and Czech-German strategic dialogue.

PM Sobotka holds talks with Georgian PM Kvirikashvili on the development of reciprocal trade and cooperation between Georgia and the EU
On Monday 22 February 2016, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, at Straka Academy as part of his two-day official visit to the Czech Republic. V4 countries express their solidarity with the Balkan countries in the handling of the migration crisis
In the second part of today’s Extraordinary Summit of Visegrad Group Countries, the Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia held talks on the current migration situation with the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov. In their joint declaration, the V4 countries made the commitment to provide further assistance to those contributing to the protection of the external border.

Visegrad Group PMs confirm shared desire to make Europe stronger with Prague Declaration
On Monday 15 February 2016, the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group countries met in Prague at the invitation of the Czech Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka. At their Summit in Czernin Palace, they commemorated the landmark 25th anniversary of the establishment of close cooperation between the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. They rounded off their meeting by adopting a declaration affirming their commitment to ongoing partnership.
