Prime Minister Fiala after the negotiation of the Coalition of the Willing: If we want peace in Europe, we must not compromise with aggressors

On Thursday, 10 July 2025, the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala participated in a video-conference with leaders of countries of the Coalition of the Willing hosted by the United Kingdom. The leaders discussed, in particular, the possibilities of a cease-fire, further military support for Ukraine and economic pressure on Russia. For the first time, the US representatives also attended the negotiation.

Prime Minister Fiala conducted negotiations with Polish President Duda, praising his contribution to strengthening the Czech-Polish relations

On Monday, 7 July 2025, Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, whose term of the Polish Head of State is about to end in the coming weeks, in a bilateral meeting at the Kramář’s Villa. The meeting was an opportunity not only to assess the bilateral relations, but also to evaluate the cooperation between the two countries.

The Czech Republic has sent requirements from 18 EU member states to the European Commission regarding changes to emissions trading

The Czech Republic has sent a non-paper to the European Commission on behalf of 18 member states that have signed it. The states, representing a majority of the EU, are requesting the Commission to make fundamental changes and provide guarantees that emissions trading will be predictable and will not have a negative impact on citizens.

Prime Minister Fiala Held Talks in Uzhhorod with Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal and Signed a Declaration of Cooperation with Him

On Tuesday 20 May 2025, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala held talks in Uzhhorod with his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal. The meeting followed up on last year’s government session in Prague, and therefore the meeting was also attended by the Minister of Finance Zbyněk Stanjura, Minister of Transport Martin Kupka and Minister of Agriculture Marek Výborný. The main topic of discussion was predominantly economic and commercial cooperation. During the one-day visit to Ukraine, several joint memoranda and declarations were signed.

Prime Minister Fiala Attended the European Political Community Summit in Tirana

Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended on Friday, 16 May, a meeting of the European Political Community in the Albanian capital of Tirana, subtitled “New Europe in a New World”. Leaders of more than 40 countries discussed European security, strengthening competitiveness, illegal migration, energy, and Russian aggression against Ukraine. On the margins of the summit, the Prime Minister also held talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and a number of other leaders.

Prime Minister Fiala Following Meeting with President Zelenskyy: Czech Republic Will Continue to Stand Firmly on Ukraine’s Side

On Monday, 5 May 2025, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, at Straka Academy. The main topics of discussion included the continuation of military, humanitarian and other assistance, the Czech ammunition initiative, deepening economic cooperation, and possibilities for a ceasefire and securing peace. The leaders agreed to enhance the training of Ukrainian pilots in the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Fiala emphasised that since the beginning of this year, half a million pieces of large-calibre ammunition have been delivered within the framework of the Czech ammunition initiative. During the visit, a Joint Declaration was signed between the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of National Unity of Ukraine regarding the Ukrainian Unity Centre, known as the Unity Hub, in the Czech Republic.

Beneš’s Villa to be Accessible Six Days a Week This Season

The visitor season at the villa of Hana and Edvard Beneš begins on 1 May. Thanks to successful cooperation between the Government Office, the Hussite Museum in Tábor, and the National Museum in Prague, the individual tour route will be expanded to include Hana Benešová’s private quarters and will offer visitors, through a new exhibition, further insight into the private life of the Beneš couple.

The Government Office Will Commence This Year’s Open House Season on 1 May by Opening the Liechtenstein Palace to the Public

Visitors may tour the historic and ceremonial buildings of the Government Office on selected days and public holidays throughout 2025. The public will have the opportunity to see the premises where the Prime Minister receives foreign dignitaries and guests, and which are associated with significant figures from our history. This year's series of open house days will begin on 1 May at the Liechtenstein Palace on Kampa Island, with the season of popular guided tours concluding on 17 November at Hrzánský Palace.
