Government approves aid to operators of ski resorts, students do not need to tax remuneration for work during work duties
Operators of ski resorts will receive compensation for the period of time they could not operate their ski lifts and chair lifts as a result of government decrees. The Government approved the launch of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s relevant subsidy programme at its meeting on Monday, 11 January 2021. It also decided that students and other persons who are working either as a result of mandated work duties or voluntarily as part of the Government’s crisis measures, will not have to tax the remuneration for this work.

Government extends force of emergency measures to 22 January; antigen tests also to continue to be provided free of charge
The Government’s emergency measures corresponding to Level 5 of the PES anti-epidemic system will be in force until 22 January. The Andrej Babiš administration decided to extend them by twelve days at an extraordinary session held on Thursday, 7 January 2021.

Government approves further aid for closed premises, wants to extend easier administration of social benefits during pandemic
Businessmen who have had to close their premises since October as a result of the government decree will receive additional financial assistance from the state to the value of CZK 400 per employee. This was approved by the government of Andrej Babiš at its first meeting of the New Year on Monday, 4 January 2021.

Government extends state of emergency for a further 30 days, with more stringent measures to take effect on 27 December
The state of emergency in the Czech Republic, declared due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, will now be in effect until 22 January 2021. Its fourth extension, for 30 days, was ruled on by the government of Andrej Babiš at an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday,23 December 2020, based on prior consent given by the Chamber of Deputies. The government has also decided to tighten the crisis measures taken in view of the transition to level 5 of the PES anti-epidemic system, which will take place on Sunday 27 December.

Government discusses current pandemic situation and vaccination preparations
At its regular meeting, the government of Andrej Babiš discussed the current situation with the development of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic and in the rest of the world.

Government to ask Chamber of Deputies to extend state of emergency to 22 January
The government will submit a request to the Chamber of Deputies for the state of emergency to be extended another 30 days until 22 January. This request was discussed and approved by the Andrej Babiš cabinet at a special meeting Thursday 17 December 2020. It also approved several clarifications to the existing crisis measures and agreed to extend the subsidy programme for supporting people working in culture.

The government has decided that stricter 4th tier pandemic measures will start to apply on Friday; affected businesses will be helped by compensations
On Friday 18th December the Czech Republic will return to the 4th tier of the pandemic response system (known as PES), but there will be several changes to the 4th tier. The Christmas holiday will be two days longer for schoolchildren. At its session on Monday, 14 December 2020, Andrej Babiš’s government also approved new compensation schemes intended to help businesses worst affected by the announced changes.

Government decides to extend state of emergency to 23 December
The state of emergency in the Czech Republic will last until 23 December 2020. The Andrej Babiš government decided on this further extension at a special meeting on Thursday 10 December 2020 on the basis of prior consent granted by the Chamber of Deputies.

Government to ask Chamber of Deputies to extend state of emergency by 30 days, will also propose stricter punishment for violation of restrictions
The government will submit to the Chamber of Deputies a request for it to express its consent to extending the state of emergency for another thirty days, i.e. until Monday 11 January 2021. The Andrej Babiš cabinet decided to submit the request at its meeting on Monday 7 December 2020. It will also submit a bill to deputies which would stiffen fines for failure to observe the anti-epidemic rules laid down by the government and Ministry of Health.

Government adopts measures valid for the third level of PES, Parliament to propose free voluntary vaccination against COVID-19
At its meeting on Monday 30 November, the Andrej Babiš cabinet approved the specific form of rules for partial easing of anti-epidemic measures effective starting Thursday 3 December. It decided to free up further funds to aid domestic business owners and to purchase further vaccines for COVID-19. It also approved a draft act to allow free voluntary inoculation against COVID-19 for all clients of Czech health insurance companies.
