The government will propose extraordinary increase in pensions by CZK 300, and has extended the Antivirus A programme by a month

From January, pensions could rise by CZK 300 in addition to the mandatory adjustment. The relevant bill amending the Pension Insurance Act was approved by Andrej Babiš’s government at its meeting on Monday, 31 May 2021. The cabinet also decided on continuing the Antivirus A programme or on further extending the VAT remission for respirators.

All remaining services to open under set conditions from Monday, the government agrees

From 31 May 2021, people will be able to visit restaurants, swimming pools, saunas or casinos again subject to meeting the conditions related to testing, vaccination or having recovered from the coronavirus and the operators ensuring the set anti-epidemic measures. This amendment to the extraordinary measure of the Ministry of Health was approved by the government at an extraordinary meeting on 28 May 2021.

Government discusses Coal Commission outcomes and emergency measure amendments while deciding to help at-risk women tackle menstrual poverty

On 24 May 2021, Andrej Babiš’s government discussed the scenario of a decline in the use of coal in the Czech Republic, assistance to women at risk of menstrual poverty and further relaxation of anti-epidemic measures. It also approved the distribution of the Just Transition Fund between the Ústí nad Labem, Karlovy Vary and Moravian-Silesian regions.

Government to set rules for COVID passports, agreed with extending the protection period after recovering from COVID-19 from 90 to 180 days

From Monday, the protection period of persons recovered from COVID-19 will be extended from 90 to 180 days and may be used in situations where it is required as one of the alternatives enabling an entry or provision of service. Also the first dose of vaccine received at least 21 days prior will be accepted. Changes in the relevant extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health were approved by the government at its extraordinary meeting on Friday, 21 May 2021.

Government approved proposal of National Recovery Plan for nearly 200 billion, agreed with further easement of epidemic control measures

The Czech Republic will revive and substantially modernise its economy after the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic with the help of the National Recovery Plan. Its proposal was approved by the government at its meeting on Monday, 17 May 2021. It also discussed a proposal of the Ministry of Health for further easement of the extraordinary measures from Monday, 24 May.

Another wave of lifting the epidemic control restrictions is awaiting the Czech Republic on Monday, 17 May. The proposal of the relevant extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health was approved by the government of Andrej Babiš at its meeting on Monday, 10 May 2021.

Restrictions to ease in remaining regions from Monday as government extends compensation bonus and covid programmes

From 10 May 2021, the rules for schools, children’s sports and other activities will be unified throughout the country due to the improvement of the epidemic situation. This will put an end to the stricter restriction hitherto applied to most regions. The final form of the extraordinary measures to come into force from next week was approved by Andrej Babiš’s government on 6 May 2021. The government also decided to extend the compensation bonus and the Covid 2021 and Covid – Uncovered Costs support programmes.

The Government Discussed a Proposal for the Next Phase of Loosening Anti-Epidemic Measures from 10 May

From Monday, 10 May, all the remaining retail segments and most of the services closed so far will be able to open. In other regions, pupils and students will return to schools, and it will be possible to take off the masks and respirators outdoors if only two people are on site. Proposals for changes to the extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health were discussed by the government of Andrej Babiš at a meeting on Monday, 3 May 2021, and their final form will be approved on Thursday.

From Monday, Children in Three Other Regions and in Prague will Return to Schools and Kindergartens, the Government Agreed

From Monday, 3 May, pupils and students in six regions and in the capital city of Prague will be able to return to full-time classes in a rotary manner. The extension of the originally approved list of regions in which milder epidemiological rules for school attendance and some other activities will be set was approved by the government of Andrej Babiš at a meeting on Thursday, 29 April 2021.

Hairdressers and other body care services will open on 3 May, more pupils will return to schools in three regions

On Monday, 3 May, hairdressers, pedicurists or beauty parlours will be allowed to reopen across the country. Moreover, in the Karlovy Vary, the Hradec Králové and the Plzeň Regions, schools will open on a weekly rotational basis and subject to epidemic control measures for pupils in the lower level of six-year or eight-year grammar schools, pupils of the first four grades of the eight-year conservatory educational programme and pupils of upper primary schools. The relevant changes in the extraordinary measures of the Ministry of Health were discussed by Andrej Babiš’s government at its meeting on Monday, 26 April 2021.
