Prime Minister Petr Fiala held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris
On Tuesday, 7 June 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. The main topic of the meeting was the war in Ukraine and its impact not only on the European Union. It was the first bilateral meeting with President Macron since he took office.

The seventh Czech-Polish intergovernmental consultation was held in Prague
On Friday, 3 June 2022, Prague hosted a joint meeting of representatives of the Czech and Polish governments. At the seventh intergovernmental consultation, the Cabinets, headed by Prime Ministers Petr Fiala and Mateusz Morawiecki, discussed current societal issues. The meeting took place for the first time since August 2019 after a hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Fiala attended a special meeting of the European Council in Brussels
On 30 and 31 May 2022, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended a special meeting of the European Council in Brussels. At this summit, the leaders agreed on a further package of sanctions against Russia, confirmed an agreement to provide direct financial assistance to Ukraine and also addressed energy, defence and security and food security.

Prime Minister Fiala and Austrian Chancellor Nehammer talk co-operation on energy security
On 17 May 2022, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer at the Kramář’s Villa, the Czech PM’s official residence. The main topics of the meeting included the impacts of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, energy security, preparations for the Czech EU Presidency and bilateral co-operation between the two countries.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala pays tribute to Nazi victims in Terezín
On 15 May 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended a commemorative event at the Terezín Memorial. He laid a wreath at the National Cemetery in front of the Small Fortress in Terezín to honour the victims of Nazi persecution. The commemorative act was also attended by the Minister of Culture Martin Baxa, President of the Senate Miloš Vystrčil, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarová Adamová and other guests.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala receives Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in his official residence
On 10 May 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala welcomed Bulgarian President Rumen Radev at the Kramář’s Villa, the Czech PM’s official residence. During an official dinner, they discussed the most topical European issues, the war in Ukraine and the upcoming Czech Presidency.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala commemorates WW2 victims along with victims of the Russian aggression in Ukraine on VE Day
Commemorative acts at the National Memorial on the Vítkov Hill and at the Olšany Cemetery in Prague culminated the celebrations of the 77th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. On this occasion, Prime Minister Petr Fiala honoured the memory of the heroes who fought for the freedom of the former Czechoslovakia, but also remembered the victims of the war that Russia is currently waging against Ukraine.

Prime Minister Fiala talks energy security and Ukraine with Chancellor Scholz in Berlin
On 5 May 2022, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin. The main topics of the meeting were energy security with regard to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and the global impact of the war. The leaders also discussed joint support for Ukraine, the priorities of the upcoming Czech EU Presidency and Czech-German bilateral co-operation.

Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala visited Poland on 29 April 2022. He met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Warsaw.
