The Prime Minister takes part in celebrations of the founding of Czechoslovakia
At Vítkov the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the President, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, army officers and war veterans commemorated the 101st anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. “It’s an important anniversary. We have to remember above all the people who made such sacrifices for the founding of our country,” Andrej Babiš added.
Afterwards at Prague Castle President Miloš Zeman appointed seven new generals. The Prime Minister congratulated the newly appointed General Radim Dragoun, who heads the General Inspectorate of the Security Forces. “It’s a crucial moment in your professional career, and I’d like to thank you and congratulate you, and also to thank your wives, partners and families for the support they’ve given you. I’m grateful to you for fighting for the security of our people and our country,” Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said. The Prime Minister presented a ceremonial sword to the newly appointed General Dragoun.
The Prime Minister then laid flowers at the statue of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in Hradčanské náměstí, before leaving for Kramář’s Villa, where there was an Open Day.
In the evening Andrej Babiš and other members of the government attended the awarding of the highest state decorations at Prague Castle.
